LED Light Therapy at The Point!
Light therapy is the application of exposing skin to light for therapeutic purposes. This process has the unique ability to stimulate and/or inhibit cell-signaling pathways for skin rejuvenation and killing bacteria. LED light therapy is a non-chemical, non-invasive method of skin rejuvenation and is based upon clinically proven technology. It is an excellent modality for improving the quality of the skin.
When low-energy laser light passes through the skin, different components of the skin and the cells are affected by various wavelengths, stimulating specific beneficial effects. For optimal results, a series of LED light treatments should be done, one per week for a period of eight to twelve weeks. Thereafter, we suggest a maintenance treatment of once or twice per month.
Red LED Light Therapy
Red and far infrared light stimulates growth of new collagen which visibly improves the appearance of wrinkles without disturbance or damage to the overlying epidermis. The result is firmer, fuller skin, and therefore; fewer wrinkles. After a series of LED treatments, fibroblasts can continue to produce new collagen for up to six months and lymph activity is increased, helping to reduce edema, or fluid buildup. Increasing lymph activity can help to speed the healing process, because the lymph system is responsible for helping the body to eliminate waste and bacteria. Couple your Red LED light therapy with a lymphatic drainage massage for even more rejuvenation!
Blue LED Light Therapy
Treating acne is an entirely different mechanism. P. acnes bacteria reside on everyone’s skin. An overabundance of the bacteria leads to blemishes and visible acne. P. acnes bacteria flourish when the sebaceous glands in our pores produce too much sebum. The LED blue light uses a wavelength of light specifically targeting the p. acnes bacteria. This wavelength penetrates in the pores, killing the bacteria where it resides, much deeper than any cleansers or product is capable if killing or removing the bacteria, in a completely non-invasive way.
