At Point Lumineux, we combine functional medicine with Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) creating a more comprehensive solution for your hormone imbalances. We use only the highest quality laboratory testing and bioidentical plant based hormones from the best compounding pharmacies in the country.
We use extensive laboratory diagnostics including blood, urine, and saliva testing depending on medical history. In addition to traditional hormone testing, we look at hormone precursors, vitamins and minerals that affect hormones, as well as Vitamin D3 which is actually a hormone itself! Vitamin D is the most common deficiency we see affecting 75% of the worldwide population!
Correcting Vitamin D3 and/or hormone precursor deficiencies will result in a more effective and complete solution bringing other imbalances into balance at the same time that we balance your hormones.
This comprehensive testing and treatment strategy allows us to correct imbalances more upstream in the biochemical processes and, therefore, earlier in the disease process.
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a replacement of female sex hormones that decline with age and/or disease. These hormones are called estrogen and progesterone. They are created and released from the ovaries and influence changes in the body’s cycles which affect periods, moods, sleep, emotions, and contribute to a feeling of overall well-being. Estrogen is also very important to maintain strong, healthy bones.
Women can experience symptoms of hormones waning as early as age 30. Progesterone commonly lowers first causing a reduced ability to handle stress, and an increased incidence of migraines, and miscarriages. Around age 40, estrogen starts to decrease as the ovaries wind down for menopause. Menopause is when the periods stop and a woman can no longer get pregnant. At this time, additional symptoms may arise, including hot flushes, night sweats, insomnia, palpitations, mood changes, vaginal dryness and painful intercourse. Minor skin changes such as dryness and loss of elasticity are also a possibility. Treating patients with HRT replaces the hormones no longer being released from the ovaries alleviating some of these pesky symptoms.
Men often experience decreased testosterone starting in their 40s. This can cause many symptoms such as lowered libido, infertility, erectile dysfunction, loss of body and facial hair, muscle loss, and osteoporosis. For men, we can replace testosterone, but we are very cautious to also prevent the potential side effects of testosterone therapy with adjunct therapies.
What is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Pellet Therapy?
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) can come in oral, topical, and pellet forms. BHRT using pellets has many advantages over other hormone modalities. Consistent administration offered by pellet therapy prevents the rollercoaster like effects patients often experience with other forms of BHRT.
